Updates to the ACF manual
New Additions to the ACF Manual: Simplifying FileMaker Tasks
I’m excited to share two new pages I’ve recently added to the ACF (Advanced Custom Functions) manual. These additions are designed to make your experience with FileMaker even more efficient and user-friendly. In this update, I’ve introduced a FileMaker startup script that initializes ACF functions and a Bootstrap package that includes 24 functions to streamline file handling within FileMaker.
1. The Startup Script
The first page delves into the FileMaker startup script, a crucial element for initializing ACF functions. This script lays the foundation for a seamless integration of ACF capabilities into your FileMaker solutions. By following the instructions provided, you’ll have ACF up and running in no time.
2. The Bootstrap Package
The Bootstrap package, featured on the second page, is a comprehensive toolkit that simplifies various file-handling tasks in FileMaker. With 24 carefully crafted functions, you can perform these tasks with ease, saving you valuable time and effort. From file organization to data management, this package is designed to enhance your FileMaker experience.
Effortless Portal Sorting
Before the weekend, I also introduced a new page along with two demo solutions that showcase how to implement easy and efficient portal sorting in FileMaker. These solutions offer both ascending and descending sorting options, making it easy to identify the sorting order and which column is currently being sorted.
In addition, the second demo solution demonstrates the ability to sort on multiple columns simultaneously, providing even more flexibility in managing your data. The third chapter in this article offers real-life examples of sorting non-alphabetical data, such as month names, week-day names, and electronic component values like resistors, capacitors, or inductors.
These examples demonstrate the versatility of the ACF plugin, highlighting its ability to provide solutions to common challenges faced by FileMaker users. With the ACF plugin, you have a powerful ally in your FileMaker projects, making complex tasks easier and more efficient.
If you’re eager to explore these new additions and enhance your FileMaker experience, I encourage you to dive into the ACF manual. Whether you’re a seasoned FileMaker user or just getting started, these resources are designed to simplify your workflow and boost your productivity.
