The equal sign and the data entry register

As you enter a number in the quick calculator, it remains in the data-entry register until an operator, function, or other action completes the entry. An underscore after the number shows the current insertion point.

Pressing = evaluates the formula one final time, records it in the print roll, and starts a new calculation with the result available on the first line. Use Edit if you want to change a finalized formula.

If a formula uses variables, the next line shows the result followed by the values used, for example =>24, Where x=3. Change a variable before finalizing to recalculate immediately with the new value.

Calculation sheets behave differently: each editable line is recalculated whenever the sheet runs, and assignments are processed from top to bottom.
